DESCRIPTION:PD Boot Camp #2: Representing People – Fighting the Fight in Private Practice \nTuesday\, November 12 | Noon | Room 5048 \nToo often students think the government or a legal services organization are the only ways to do something meaningful with their law degree. If you want your practice to have a meaningful impact in the lives of your clients joins us for a session designed to educate you on the opportunities to serve others as a plaintiff’s attorney. The panel will be moderated by Kim Crouch\, executive director of NC Advocates for Justice\, the bar association for plaintiff’s attorneys in North Carolina. Our panelists represent different practice settings and areas: \n\nFred Baker is a partner with Motley Rice\, one of the largest plaintiff’s firms in the country with over 100 attorneys. Fred’s practice involves consumer fraud protection and securities class actions.\nBen Burnside is an attorney with Deuterman Law Group\, a plaintiff’s firm of eleven attorneys with offices in Greensboro and Winston-Salem. Ben focuses his practice on obtaining the Social Security and VA disability benefits his clients deserve.\nChris Stevens is also an attorney with Deuterman Law Group. Chris works on behalf of his clients to protect their legal rights and ensure they receive justice and helps to improve their lives in the wake of their injuries.\nMatthew Ballew is a partner with Zaytoun Ballew & Taylor\, a firm of five attorneys in Raleigh. Matt practices in all areas of the firm\, including Police Brutality and Civil Rights\, Medical Malpractice\, Complex Business Litigation\, Motor Vehicle Accidents\, Premises Liability and General and Class-Action Civil Litigation.\n\nLunch will be served. DESCRIPTION:On November 12\, The Sports and Entertainment Law Association will be proud to host two entertainment lawyers who make the Triangle their home base for a discussion with UNC law students titled Practicing Entertainment Law in a Non-Major Market . Shawn Rogers Nolan of Shawn Nolan Law and Neil Schulman of Ploegsma & Schulman LLP will discuss how their legal careers lead to entertainment law\, what brought them to North Carolina\, and how they practice outside of the entertainment hubs of New York and Los Angeles. Both attorneys have found an uncommon home in the Chapel Hill area working with artists\, musicians\, songwriters\, record labels\, publishing companies\, actors\, social media influencers\, industry executives\, production companies and more. This event will surely be of interest to any law students interested in entertainment\, music\, or practicing any kind of law in a non-major market. Lunch will be provided.
