SUMMARY:Law & Literature: Alumni Book Club with Professor Patricia Bryan
DESCRIPTION:Alumni are invited to join Professor Patricia Bryan in reading The Round House by Louise Erdrich. \nProfessor Bryan’s pick for this virtual book club in September — The Round House — transports readers to the Ojibwe reservation in North Dakota. This is a magnificent story shared by a boy on the cusp of manhood\, seeking justice and understanding in the wake of a serious crime that forever changes his family.\n\nStyled in the model of Professor Bryan’s popular Law & Literature class at Carolina Law\, alumni are invited to take part in a thoughtful virtual conversation about this important book. Make plans to join Professor Bryan and other alumni for a conversation about Erdrich’s novel and its themes that resonate with readers.

DESCRIPTION:Each year\, UNC School of Law organizes the campus-wide Constitution Day celebration to commemorate September 17\, the day on which the Constitution of the United States was signed. SUMMARY:Law & Literature: Online Alumni Book Club with Professor Patricia Bryan
DESCRIPTION:Join Professor Patricia Bryan in reading the 2020 Pulitzer Prize winning novel\, The Nickel Boys\, by Colson Whitehead. This book spans the period from the 1960’s—after the Supreme Court decided Brown vs. Board of Education—until the present day. Based on a true story\, this novel reminds us that the past cannot be erased and that changes in the law will not be enough to end discrimination and racial injustice. Styled in the model of Professor Bryan’s popular Law & Literature class at Carolina Law\, alumni are invited to take part in a thoughtful conversation about the important themes in this book. \nA link to join us for the virtual event will be sent out via email prior to the webinar.
