Biography

Laura Coyle, PhD, HSP-P is an associate professor at Fayetteville State University in the Department of Psychology. She is also a licensed psychologist with a part-time private practice treating children, adolescents, and adults.  Laura has provided therapy and assessment in a variety of clinical settings including the James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (which serves active duty Navy recruits as well as veterans from all military branches), the University of Chicago Neuropsychology Clinic, the DePaul University College Counseling Center, as well as various child and adolescent inpatient psychiatric units. Laura has taught Abnormal Psychology and Theories of Personality for many years and is passionate about de-stigmatizing mental health issues, especially in marginalized/understudied communities.  Her research examines stress and coping in those communities, with a current focus on individuals struggling with chronic health issues.
