Scholarship Terms and Conditions

For the following terms and conditions, you must indicate that you have read them by checking the box next to each, and then further confirm all of the terms and conditions by acknowledging the statement at the bottom of the page and filling in the required biographical information.

Terms and Conditions

I understand that in order for my University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law (Carolina Law) scholarship to be distributed and renewed each year, I must:

Maintain good academic standing*

Annual cumulative grade point average of 2.6 at the end of each academic year

Maintain good behavioral standing*

Not serving an imposed sanction

Be enrolled as a full-time student*

Nine (9) or more credit hours in a Fall or Spring semester
Three (3) or more credit hours in a Summer semester

I further understand that:

My Carolina Law scholarship is only good for up to six (6) semesters, as long as I am billed School of Law tuition for each semester*

If I am billed School of Law tuition for less than six (6) semesters, the remainder of the scholarship is forfeited*

I will not receive my Carolina Law scholarship:*

If I am a dual degree student: the semester(s) I am billed tuition for another school
If I participate in a non-exchange study-abroad program: the term(s) I am billed tuition from my host school
If I defer enrollment to another academic year (please contact the Admissions Office for scholarship reevaluation in the spring prior to enrollment)

My scholarship may be adjusted if I withdraw from school and return in a future semester.*

If I receive tuition benefits through another program, I must inform the Director of Law School Financial Aid (Law@studentaid.unc.edu) by August 1.*

If my law school scholarship and my additional funding exceed tuition and fees by more than $18,000, my law school scholarship will be reduced.*

All or a portion of the funds to cover my Carolina Law scholarship may appear in my financial aid package as a named scholarship from a scholarship donor and that some of these named scholarships may also consider other criteria (e.g. financial need, residency, undergraduate institution, etc.).*

If I receive a named scholarship made possible through philanthropy, the Office of Advancement will reach out to me during the academic year regarding my participation in sharing information with scholarship donors, and I agree to respond to the Office of Advancement’s emails and outreach.*
