The Institute conducts rigorous, independent research that has a real-world impact on LGBTQI+ communities. I look forward to collaborating with esteemed colleagues at the Institute to advance a deeper understanding of LGBTQI+ issues, particularly as they relate to international and comparative law. This opportunity will greatly enrich my research, and I am excited to create opportunities for Carolina Law students to work with me on projects made possible by the Williams Institute.”

Lau’s appointment not only recognizes his exceptional scholarship and advocacy but also enhances Carolina Law’s standing as a leader in human rights and public policy research. We congratulate Lau on this well-deserved recognition and eagerly anticipate the valuable insights his work at the Williams Institute will bring to the field of LGBTQIA+ rights and our law school community.
