Biography

Caroline Osborne joined the Carolina Law faculty in 2024 and serves as the Director of the Kathrine R. Everett Law Library and Associate Professor of Law. Her teaching and research interests include copyright, cultural property law, scholarly impact, and legal research pedagogy. Ms. Osborne is a prolific author. Her work has appeared in the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal, the SMU Science & Technology Law Review, the Ohio State Law Journal Online, Law Library Journal, and Legal Research Services Quarterly. Her 2023 book, Sources and Strategies of Legal Research won the 2024 Joseph L. Andrews Legal Literature Award and the American Association of Law Libraries Academic Special Interests Section Book Award. She is the 2015 and 2020 winner of the American Association of Law Libraries Academic Special Interest Section Outstanding Article Award and the 2023 recipient of the Frederick Charles Hicks Award for Outstanding Contributions to Academic Law Librarianship. In 2024 she was honored to receive the Service to SEAALL award for sustained service to the chapter. Ms. Osborne attended Richmond Law School, where she was a member of the McNeill Law Honor Society and the Law Review. She also holds an LL.M. from Emory Law and her B.A. and M.S.L.S. from the University of North Carolina. She is the prior Director and Professor of Law at West Virginia College of Law and a prior Associate Dean of Legal Information Services at the Washington & Lee University School of Law. Ms. Osborne practiced law in North Carolina, Georgia, and New York focusing on leverage finance and commercial real estate. She is an active member of the North Carolina bar.
