David Wright
Assistant Dean for Student Development
Biography
David Wright serves as the Assistant Dean for Student Development at the University of North Carolina School of Law. As part of the Student Development Office, he provides leadership and strategic direction on a full spectrum of student services and activities at UNC Law to enrich the overall experience of law students. David works alongside the Student Development team on student advising and counseling, student conduct and safety, administration of all final exams, student organization advising and training, and developing and implementing major student programs such as Orientation, Commencement, and wellness programs. He also serves as a liaison with main campus offices and works with students on bar exam applications. Prior to coming to UNC Law, David served as the inaugural Assistant Dean of Student Services at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law. He previously held positions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, the University of Kentucky, and the University of Arkansas. Before coming to higher education, David practiced law at Hayes, Alford & Johnson, PLLC in Fort Smith, AR. A native of Hope, AR, David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arkansas. He earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law, and is a candidate for a Ph.D. in Education Policy & Evaluation from the University of Kentucky, with expected graduation in May 2024.
