Biography
Lolly Gasaway joined the Carolina Law faculty in 1985 as Director of the Law Library and Professor of Law. She served as Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs from 2006-2010 and taught full time from 2010-2013 when she retired as the Paul B. Eaton Distinguished Professor of Law Emerita. She taught and researched copyright law, cyberspace law and art law. Professor Gasaway published numerous law review articles and book chapters on copyright law and articles on law library management in addition to several books on copyright law. She is a past president of the American Association of Law Libraries and received its Marian G. Gallagher Award 2011. She is a Fellow of the Special Libraries Association and won its John Cotton Dana Award. She served on the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Accreditation Committee and on its Council on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar. She served on many accreditation teams and chaired such teams for the ABA. Gasaway’s law degree is from the University of Houston and her Master of Library Science degree is from Texas Woman’s University. Before coming to North Carolina, she was the Director of the Law Library and a member of the law faculty at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Houston. She has served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Order of the Coif since 2002 and has been a member of the board of directors of the Copyright Clearance Center since 2009.
