Laura Sloan
Director of Student Success & Bar Application Support
Biography
Laura Sloan returned to UNC School of Law in April 2026 as the Director of Student Success & Bar Application Support in the Office of Student Development. In her newly created role, Sloan works alongside the Student Development team to provide individualized counseling and group programming to empower students with the support, resources, and community connections needed to thrive in law school. She also helps students and graduates navigate the bar exam process, from application to licensure. As a former member of the Career Development Office, Sloan is excited to return and work with the Carolina Law community. Sloan is a proud double Tar Heel, earning her B.S. in Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill and J.D. from UNC School of Law. She also holds an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Higher Education from Appalachian State University. After law school, Sloan clerked for Chief Justice Sarah E. Parker of the North Carolina Supreme Court and Judge Karen K. Caldwell of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. She then practiced law at Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, DC and Womble Bond Dickinson LLP in Raleigh, NC. Most recently, Sloan served as an Associate University Attorney at East Carolina University where she advised primarily on employment and student affairs matters.
