Meghan Moran

Director of Pro Bono Initiatives

Biography

Meghan Moran is the Director of Pro Bono Initiatives for UNC Law. In this position, housed under Experiential Education, Meghan manages and facilitates the law school’s pro bono program in conjunction with a 13-member student board. Among other functions, the pro bono program connects law students to hands-on opportunities to assist attorneys in providing low-cost, high-quality legal services to underserved populations in North Carolina and beyond. Meghan is a “Double Tarheel.” She graduated with distinction from UNC with a B.A. in Public Policy in 2016 and graduated from UNC Law with a J.D. in 2019. During law school, Meghan completed over 430 hours of pro bono service and received the “2L of the Year” award at the annual Pro Bono Publico Awards in 2018. Prior to joining the staff of UNC Law, Meghan practiced family law at Pisgah Legal Services, a legal services organization based in Asheville. While at Pisgah Legal Services, she provided trauma-informed, holistic legal services to low-income clients in rural areas surrounding Asheville. In addition to handling cases, Meghan was an integral part of the Henderson County Family Advocacy Center and served on the Henderson County Family Visitation Program Advisory Board.
