Klinefelter Receives AALL’s Highest Honor
May 7, 2025
The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) has awarded Anne Klinefelter, Henry P. Brandis Distinguished Professor of Law Emerita and former director of the Kathrine R. Everett Law Library, its prestigious Marian Gould Gallagher Distinguished Service Award.
Klinefelter, who retired earlier this year after serving as law library director at Carolina Law since 2007, established herself as a pioneer in legal information management while teaching privacy law courses. Her influential scholarship explores the intersections of information policy and privacy law in library settings and legal information management.
The Gallagher Award, AALL’s highest honor, recognizes Klinefelter’s extended service to law librarianship, exemplary contributions to the Association, and significant professional literature. This recognition also automatically grants her induction into the AALL Hall of Fame, further cementing her legacy in the profession. These honors join her growing list of accolades, including the 2023 American Association of Law Schools Section on Law Libraries and Legal Information Award for Outstanding Service and the 2019 Frederick Charles Hicks Award for Outstanding Contributions to Academic Law Librarianship.
AALL will present the award at its annual meeting and conference later this year.
