Biography
Carrie Floyd joined the Carolina Law Faculty in 2024. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Law and the Director of the Civil Legal Assistance Clinic, where she teaches students to provide high-quality civil legal services to local community members. Her research focuses on the intersection of consumer rights, financial technology and the ways that emerging fintech products impact underserved communities. Floyd’s recent work has appeared in the Boston College Law Review. Floyd attended Wayne State University Law School where she graduated magna cum laude and was a Senior Assistant Editor of the Wayne Law Review. After law school, Floyd clerked for Justice Bridget M. McCormack of the Michigan Supreme Court. From there, she was a complex litigation and systemic advocacy staff attorney at Lakeshore Legal Aid in Detroit, Michigan, where she pursued systemic and impact litigation on behalf of low-income families and seniors. Floyd taught at the University of Michigan Law School prior to joining Carolina Law.
