UNC School of Law Announces Newly Elected Board Members and Officers of UNC Law Foundation, Law Alumni Association

Four new alumni leaders began their terms this summer

The UNC Law Foundation and UNC Law Alumni Association at UNC School of Law have elected four new alumni volunteers to serve on their respective boards and elected new alumni leadership as officers.

The UNC Law Foundation supports teaching, research, and service at UNC School of Law as a charitable foundation organized exclusively for the benefit of the school. It encourages the establishment of endowment funds for professorships, fellowships, scholarships, academic programs, and other priority funding areas at Carolina Law. The two new members of the UNC Law Foundation Board, listed below, began their terms on July 1.

Members: Frank Emory ’82 – Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Novant Health, Charlotte, NC; James “Jim” Renger ‘65

Members elected to 2nd term: Liz Bower ’01 – partner, Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, Washington, DC; Gary London ’79  – partner, Burr & Forman, LLP, Birmingham, AL; Charles Plambeck ’86, President – Managing Director Global Structure Finance Capital Markets at Citigroup, New York, NY; Wilson White ’06, Vice President – Senior Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy, Google, Inc., Mountain View, CA

Plambeck and White will continue in their respective roles as President and Vice President for another three-year term.

Upon graduation, all alumni of UNC School of Law become members of the UNC Law Alumni Association. The alumni association is governed by a volunteer board and is dedicated to advancing the school and its alumni as leaders in law and connects members through social, educational, and professional activities. The alumni association is a committee within the UNC Law Foundation.

The two new members of the UNC Law Alumni Association Alumni Board are listed below. The members began their terms July 1, as did the officers.

Members: Judson B. Wood III ’12 – Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Cambridge Associates in Arlington, VA; Erin Locklear ’02 – General Counsel for RDU Airport Authority, RDU Airport, NC

Members elected to 2nd term three-year term: Tristan Fuierer ’03 – Patent Attorney for Casimir Jones Durham, NC ; David Hood ’91 – Partner, Patrick Harper & Dixon LLP, Hickory, NC

Alumni elected to a second one-year term as officers: James “Jim” Deal ‘74, President – Partner at Deal Moseley & Smith, LLP, Boone, NC; Brian Meacham ‘03, Vice President – Partner at Smith Anderson, Raleigh, NC; Angela M. Liu ’09, Secretary – Partner at Dechert LLP, Chicago, IL
