Save the Date: CPILO Auction
February 12, 2024Save the date for UNC School of Law’s most highly anticipated event of the year – the 2024 Annual CPILO Community Auction on Thursday, March 7th! Taking place at The PITCH on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill from 6-11pm, this exciting event brings together Carolina Law students, faculty, and community members to raise money for an important cause – supporting students in unpaid or underpaid summer public interest internships.
“The CPILO auction helps raise money for students with unpaid and underpaid public interest summer positions,” said CPILO Vice President Sarah Dobbs. “This allows students who want to pursue public interest law but otherwise couldn’t afford to live during the summer to pursue their passions. Students working with district attorneys, public defenders, nonprofits, the Department of Justice, and many more organizations benefit from this support.”
This year’s auction will feature both a silent auction and a live auction. The silent auction opens on Monday, February 26th at 12pm EST and closes on Friday, March 1st at 12pm EST. Featuring over $800 worth of donated items from local businesses like passes to the Charlotte White Water Center, yoga class packs, wine tastings, and puppy training sessions, the silent auction is the perfect opportunity to snag great deals while supporting students. Bidding is online only and open to all, no ticket purchase required.
The main event on March 7th will be a live auction hosted by crowd favorites, Professors Osamudia James and Kathleen Thomas. On the auction block will be one-of-a-kind professor experiences like poker night with Professor Coyle, a hiking adventure with Professor Hornstein, high tea at the Fearrington Inn with Professor Jain, and more. With a full cash bar, food, and a live music performance by Slinky and the Dogs, it’s sure to be an electric evening.
Tickets to attend the live auction are $20 and available for purchase online until March 6th at 2pm. Tickets will also be sold at the door, cash or check only. Cocktail attire is suggested as attendees mix and mingle during the event. All net proceeds go directly to funding summer public interest internships, so come support a great cause while having a fabulous time!
